Tanmayi Oak

Among the several posts I liked Brenna's, Srishti Singh's and Vanessa's the most. But I felt that Vanessa's is the best because I found the visuals strong and the text tells us more about the photos. I found her post really thoughtful. Starting from her childhood photograph, it is a long shot with a house in the background and Vanessa is collecting the paddy rice. The photograph is astonishing to me because such a small kid is trying to drag that equipment which seems so heavy. The determination and dedication that can be seen on her face is really worth appreciating. I think the photo must be taken in the late day light around 11.30 AM. I like the way the pattern that got created after dragging matches the shape that the house has formed in the background which is curve. Also that little girl seen in the top left corner of the photograph watching Vanessa adds another life in the photograph. And the dark patch on the building (near the stairs) is balanced by what I think to be a shadow in the bottom right corner. This picture is unique in my eyes because usually in childhood photos children are either playing, having fun in water, posed with a telephone etc. But this is different from all those and she is still having fun doing it.
I found the second photo to be perfect because I agree to what she has written about it. Yes even to me I remember her as a girl who comes from Panvel which is so far. What I really liked about the photo is that the way she has successfully captured what she wanted to which is the train, board with 'Panvel' on it and her face. Had it been a mid shot I think it would not have been that effective.
Her last picture is very clear. She says she is confused but the picture tells that whatever she does she would like to be at the top. Though the face of the figure in the picture is blank it got a smile on my face because of the gesture it has shown with its hands.

Thanks for the appreciation.
