This picture was clicked on my 1st birthday. In my community, the child is dressed up as krishna on his/her birthday and then an aarti is done. It signifies a new life that the child is going to undertake. It's my favourite picture because it really brings out my naughtiness and the mischievous smile that I had as a kid and still do! ;) I was a very naughty kid and my mom had a tough time keeping up with my mischievousness!
The second picture is more serious. I
was sitting and thinking about something, when my friend just called out my
name and clicked this picture. The picture really brings my eyes into focus and
the story that it tells through my eyes. The photographer caught me off guard
and thus there’s a bit of surprise on my face and a hint of smile which is not
deliberate. The picture also brings out the sharp features of my face. As I grew up all the masti that I once did as a kid settled down and I became more mature and calm.
10
years down the line, I would like to see myself as someone like Sucheta Dalal.
A successful female journalist of her time. She was responsible for breaking the
securities scam in 1992 which was India’s biggest financial scandal until then.
She’s considered as one of the best female journalists India has ever seen. I
want to get into investigative journalism, and 10 years down the lane, I would
want to reach at a position where Sucheta Dalal is right now.

Hey,
I like that your first pic also brings out a tradition that I was unaware of and your emotion just sums it all up. 2nd pic -although it's a beautiful capture of emotion I am not sure whether it's a self-portrait.
Dikshita:
Such clarity in expressing what you wish to convey! Great selection of photographs, though the second is not a self-portrait. But where has all that mischievousness gone?
