Aquila Khan

I have very few photos from my childhood, and this is one of them. In this I was playing on the floor and suddenly someone took this picture. I am guessing this surprised look in my eyes, was because I was wondering what was happening, and I wanted to hold the camera.

This photo was taken when a group of friends went to Kashmir on a holiday. I was very impressed by the women who were fighting for the missing children from their families. One of the women, had formed a group who were fighting for their rights. They were protesting and bringing people to fight against the human rights violations.

After returning i wrote a poem:
Aei-wadiye Kashmir, kise tere gham se inkar hai. Gham tera zamaane bhar par ashkaar hai.

After returning from Kashmir, there is a radio station in Kashmir called Good morning Kashmir, run by a woman who is the first to be a radio-jockey in the situation in Kashmir. In a place where there are less chances for having a radio, and even less for women to be there. And to make it a space for Kashmiri people to speak and discuss their issues. I was very inspired by her, who is trying to do so much, and wished to be radio jockey.

Hey,
I like how you are so specific about your future. Something I am personally unsure about.

Good! But was that a self-portrait? I want you to post at least one self-portrait a day until sunday. We'll talk in class on Monday.
