For me the pictures depict innocence n nostalgia.. the monochrome works wonders in invoking the feeling... awesome

Why did you choose b & w ?

I like the girl's expression...portrays innocence. I feel the images should have been in colour since rainy season is the time when there is greenery all around...

Hey Aparna,
Beautiful pictures. Use of a child and B/W depict a sense of nostalgia for me.

@Brenna- Like you said, "nostalgia".
I wanted to capture the grimness of the weather in contrast with vividness of the child, which would otherwise be difficult in a colored photograph. The intensity was best captured in B&W.

@Tejaswi- Thankyou :)

@Mamta- I think because how I see rain is different than how you see it. For me people dying, losing shelter and food is a little less glorifying than the greenery. On the other hand there would be no life without the water too. Here, I was trying to contrast both sides.

Hey Aparna...based on these n ur raksha bandhan photos i can see than u have a little better understanding than most of us when it comes to capturing emotions.. learning from your pictures.

Easily the best set of photographs for this exercise! Your black and white pictures beautifully capture the rains. I wish more people responded and I like your response to Mamta. For the next exercise, let's explore "contrast" in black and white!
