Nakita Rodrigues

Cycle-I love my cycle and have kept it till date even though it can’t be taken around now. I would go cycling every evening to the nearest shop along with a kitten in the basket.
Teddies-It reminds me of the time I played with it, I would talk to them, bathe them and would waste my parents perfume by spraying it on these teddies. I still have these two teddies.
Stairs-As kids we would invent different games to play on these stairs. I would run up and down these wooden stairs disturbing all the neighbours during their siesta time.
Kitchen set- I’d always loved to imitate while  my mother  and play with the kitchen set, cutting leaves of trees, drinking chai with these small cups etc.

Mudka-This mudka reminds me of my hometown in Goa. My grandparents would heat water on this using wood and dried leaves while I spent my summer vacations at grandparents place. This mudka looked unusual  to me at that time and I found it very fascinating to heat water in this way.

India has celebrated 67 yrs of freedom still we can see countrymen  fighting  against each other where is the freedom? Are we so free that we can openly kill each other ? Is revenge taken only through wars, blood shedding…. Loss of innocent lives.... women and children being targeted on a large scale ? This isn't a pleasant sight… are we not thinking enough to solve the problems mutually ? Gaza lives under a constant threat with unending nightmares where pain and sufferings is infinite. I want them to keep going strong  have hope and believe in god. We need to pray for world peace for a threat free world… freedom is something that can’t be misused, we are like a tiny dot on this earth each one of us is precious. Will continue to hold you in prayer .

Nakita Rodrigues

Living on Sophia campus I grew up seeing beautiful trees around me. I am a nature lover and I feel it’s the most beautiful thing in the world. I love trekking and camping because that is when I feel more connected with nature . I love parasailing, enjoy springs. I can spend long hours under the shade of trees, staring at the sky, it keeps me calm and brings me some kind of joy.

Ten years from now I would like to travel the world and photograph people from all walks of life, Being independent, learning new cultures and having varieties of cuisines. I want to go trekking in different parts of the world and have an enriching experience.
Childhood is something that I would always cherish, whether it’s a bad picture or a good picture doesn’t really matter. Childhood is something that is once lost never found again. So well I did enjoy my childhood to the fullest from wearing new clothes, wearing mum’s sandals, applying excessive powder, messed ponytail, crying and shouting to fulfil all my demands, fighting with friends saying my Daddy is the best, refusing to eat all the time, jumping into puddles gave me immense joy. This picture was taken when I was a little older, nutured and cared for. Here I was made the flowergirl for  a wedding when I was warned by my parents not to play truant during mass but a child is a child and I was a naughty one. So when I got a chance I ran all over the place this was when the picture was clicked. I was given my freedom when we were back home after the wedding when all the attention was drawn towards me. This picture gives me immense joy as it a flashback to those moments of an innocent and carefree child.
