What’s going on in Gaza is devastating. All we can do is pray and hope. Hope for peace and love. The picture that I have chosen is of folded hands. I have further drawn a locket with the Muslim symbol in it. But instead of the Muslim star I have chosen to drawn the star of the Jews sign. This is my way of showing them united. A symbol that the Gaza attacks should stop and the Israeli’s and the Palestinians should unite. I am sure its possible to live together peacefully and that is what I want to symbolise through my picture.

       We were asked to write a message to the people in Gaza. I am really at a loss of words, when it comes to talking about this horrific situation. I don’t understand it. The pain, the sorrow, the fight. Why do human beings do this to each other? No matter how much I read into it, give my perspective, or listen to experts, the fact of the matter remains that innocent people are dying. So all I can really say is I may not understand the situation fully, but what I do understand is this is a terrible act of humanity. For that, I stand by you all. In any small way that I can, I wish to send my prayers to those lives of young women and children especially, and to their families. I wish to send any ounce of strength from me to those still struggling to make it out of this difficult time. I wish to send my love. I write from the heart…

In this time of misery and pain, there is hope, which will bloom slowly but surely…

My dear friends in Gaza,
I won't say I understand how you might be feeling because I don't really know how it is when one is surrounded by war. The terror that you are facing is unfortunate and all I can do sitting here in India is to pray to the God that the war ends soon and you get your peace back. In the hope that the following lines inspire you in some way to cope with the war situation-

The Candle

She woke up one night, her eyes were in tears,
She felt cold inside, tormented by fears.
The thick woolen blanket would not keep her warm;
The wind seemed to carry the seeds of a storm.
She was on her own, with no one around,
She trembled and jumped at each little sound.
Old nightmares rose from the mist of the past
To fill her with terror: “This night is your last”.
She tried to be brave, but a voice in her head
Was screaming in anguish: “Give up! You are dead!”
A sense of negation was sinking in all
The forces of darkness were huge; she was small.
“My Lord, I am frightened, will this be my end?
I’ve no one to save me, no lover, no friend.
My dreams come to haunt me. It’s all déjà vu.
I’m so lost and lonely. My Lord, where are You?”
She looked at the candle, its flame seemed to say:
“My child, don’t be frightened, I won’t go away.
No demon can touch you, to Me you belong.
No evil can harm you, with Me you are strong.
You see? It’s so simple. Just look at the flame.
The shadows are shifting but I am the same.
Wherever my light is, the darkness is gone.
For never can darkness and light be as one.
When one is within you, the other’s no more
One walks in, the other walks out of the door.
When dawn fills you deeply, the night falls apart,
For never can both be contained in a heart.
Just keep the door open and let my light in
No demon can face Me, out there or within.
Your candle is burning, there’s nothing to fear,
Just call Me, beloved, and I will be here.
The darkness seems endless, but it is not so.
Its trick is to make you believe it won’t go.
But once you have called Me, its power is lost,
When summer is blooming, there’s no room for frost.
When faith says its prayer, no demon can stay,
For night cannot cover the light of the day."

Words fail me as I watch the people of Gaza drenched in pain and terror. To live with a hope to die more than to live is ghastly. Its heartbreaking. What would we, in the end, come to? Reasoning? Why did Israel and Hamas go on war? Why does anyone go on war? Nothing ever comes out of reasoning a war, because nobody wins. In a war, both the sides pay. All they have right now is hope. An end to this long long night is what I pray. I pray for all the mothers who've lost their little ones. This is a wall painting for everyone looking for hope. A little faith. That little something to hold on to. That warm shoulder to just get through the night. People will bring you down, tear your heart out. There will be nothing but silent screams to keep you company. At times of immense pain and darkness, we all have surprised ourselves with the unknown strength within us. Believe, that its going to be okay. Hold on a little more, the dawn is not far away.

Independence in my view reflects happiness of an individual. If a person is happy and content from within, one feels free and liberated. However life is not a cakewalk for anybody. Everybody has to go through some complications in life. But one must learn to overcome it irrespective of how difficult it is. Once the hurdles are crossed, one feels happy and satisfied. When you find happiness in whatever little or more you have, you find peace. This is what independence means for me.
For all the citizens out there, life may have been tough for you. You have suffered and been through a lot of hardships and tragedies during the struggle for independence. We may not be able to understand your loss right now. But we all pray for you and your nation’s freedom. You must not lose hope and have faith in God as the sun will shine brighter one day and things will change!

H.O.P.E. – Hold On Pain Ends!

Srishti Khurana

We shall overcome, we shall overcome,
We shall overcome someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We shall overcome someday.

The Lord will see us through; The Lord will see us through,
The Lord will see us through someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We shall overcome someday.

We're on to victory; We're on to victory,
We're on to victory someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We're on to victory someday.

We'll walk hand in hand, we'll walk hand in hand,
We'll walk hand in hand someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We'll walk hand in hand someday.

We are not afraid, we are not afraid,
We are not afraid today;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We are not afraid today.

The truth shall set us free , the truth shall set us free,
The truth shall set us free someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
The truth shall set us free someday.

We shall live in peace, we shall live in peace,
We shall live in peace someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We shall live in peace someday.

A few nice words can help a person a lot more than you think. Since I have been given this opportunity to reach out to the people of Israel and Gaza, I would like to send out my love and prayers and tell them that they are not alone in this difficult time. The whole world has become united and come together to pray for all of you and I am sure that God cannot ignore prayers of millions of people. I wish your pain and sufferings come to an end as soon as possible and your life be filled with happiness once again.

Mamta Kalambe

Most of us walk with our eyes closed. We fail to see what life is like in the other person's shoes. We tend to take our freedom for granted. We take for granted, our parents and all the things that they have bestowed upon us. And I am one such person. Reading about the life of people in Gaza, I feel how privileged I am, to having been sheltered and protected  by my loved ones and yet I don't give importance to these things. I can only imagine how difficult life is for the people in Gaza, for every day is like living on the edge of a mountain.

My message to the innocent people in Gaza: I am just a tiny speck on this earth, I can only imagine the pain and grief that you must be going through as you read this. When I was a kid I read that 'A prayer can move mountains' I do not know how true it is but you will be in my prayers. I do not believe in any one God or a religion, but I wish that the eternal power that holds our world together gives you courage to stand these atrocities.  May your children dance, sing and play like before. May your world be filled with smiles once again. I wish peace knocks on your doors once again.

Srishti Singh

My world may not be as difficult as yours, our monsters may not be the same but I too share the same fears as you do of loosing freedom, of losing life more than mine that of my loved ones and the grief provided by even the thought of it, is shattering. I read about your sufferings, about your pain, I read about the injustice thrown your way and how much ever I try to feel what you do its difficult because I am not there to see it for real.  There is one thing though that is true to its core is that no matter who you are a child or an adult I love you, and if someone’s hate can bring so much pain than imagine with me there are millions with you, loving you, will bring about the change. But friend its not about just others loving you it’s also about yourself as your true friend, don’t lose yourself in the sorrows thrown your way, don’t lose the fight in you to be happy, take charge and believe and not break. You have cried enough now SMILE for your own sake. You are not just somebody in this world you matter to me, you are a part of my world, you are important. Make this rock bottom your firm foundation. Face these temporary sorrows with the knowledge that god loves you that each one today sending you a message loves you.
When we say war , we imagine sorrow, cries of innocent we see brokenness, hopelessness I ask you to make a choice and change this image all you have to do is smile, belive and keep faith, always remember there is nothing more courageous then to have a smile on your face when so many want you to cry, there is never anything in the world only filled with sorrow or only filled with happiness search for solace in between this chaos a baby’s smile the way sun shines just look around and look closer towards the things that will keep you brave, keep your hope alive
I am here my friend always, I am praying for you with all my heart. Remember you are not nothing you matter to me. Now common, smile. J

To all the citizens of Israel, Gaza and Palestine don't leave hope.
Come together and resolve the issues, as small steps can make changes. War and hatred towards one another will be of no benefit instead will cause more and more death. As it’s said every cloud has a silver lining. There will be a day when everything will be right. Don't leave the hope for a better tomorrow.
Soon there will be a day where there is Peace and everyone will live happily and together.
Freedom of Independence can only be considered when everyone is moving in one direction i.e. for the betterment of Humanity and making lives wonderful for every individual.
Millions of people and their families have already paid the price of death but it’s time that everyone comes together and solve this issue so that there are no lives lost and everyone lives there life to the fullest.

India too went through the struggle for Independence. Various leaders gave their lives to see India as an independent nation which it is now. Their hope for a better tomorrow gave us this day where we have freedom, if they had lost hope we would have not got Independece. Therefore never lose hope there will be a day where everything will be fine.

I know it’s easy for me to say this because I’m not in your position and not facing all the tragedies and difficulties related to food, shelter that you are but will still pray that everything will go right one day. The dark nights in your lives will get over and a new bright day will come with Happiness.

I came across this quote in a school on Independence Day and I feel the quote is giving a very valid message. War and Internal Fights are certainly not something that will get the citizens of Israel ,Gaza and Palestine freedom, it will only lead to more and more deaths and destruction of public property. So my WARING friends make your PEACE since war does not lead to freedom it leads to terrorism which is wrong. Do what is right end the war and let HUMANITY live Freely and Independently.

 I know its easy for me to say, but its high time that the holocaust stops and harmony reigns, Because "An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind".
